Mary, 30, loses her hair every time she sleeps. She wakes up but when she wakes up the next day, she no longer has her hair. It is a tragic scenario which has hampered her prospect of becoming a model, and her life has never been the same ever since. 

Her back head is bald, since her hair has been vanishing from her head, without any clear reason.

 

“Due to my appearance, I am always avoided by men, some of them saying that I look like a chimpanzee. It is a problem because I am starting to be afraid that I may not find a willing partner who would accept to be my husband and whom we would partner to create a family,” she told The Afrimax Team which visited her.

She used to hide herself but now she is no longer able or willing to hide herself. She understands that her head will not disappear from her, so she is content with the way she is. What is even more surprising is the fact that she doesn’t want to fully shave her hair. 

 

 

Her hair loss has affected her so massively, starting with school. As her hair vanished from her head, so did her confidence. 

 

 

“Due to the fact I am jobless, I don’t have a place to call home. I was unemployed and never had anything. I slept on the street until some people saw me and had mercy on me, deciding to rent me this house for free, but I don’t know how long I will spend here,” she said.

 

 

She is suffering from a mental disorder and her ability to get medical treatment is extremely limited, which is one of the reasons she would like to get support so that she can go to the hospital.
